How to view your submissions

Track your project submissions, compare changes, and maintain transparency throughout your label collaboration.

Written by Chloe Dagenais

After submitting your audio file, metadata, and music credits to your label, you'll be redirected to the History tab, where you can track and review all your project submissions. This comprehensive tracking system provides transparency and accountability throughout your collaboration with the label.

Understanding the submission process

When you submit to your label through MusicTeam, the system automatically packages and delivers:

  • High-quality audio files in the appropriate format

  • Complete metadata including recording and work information

  • Detailed contributor credits with roles and ownership shares

  • File version history and any related documentation

Your label receives this comprehensive package directly in their Connex account, ensuring professional delivery and proper organization of your project materials. Learn more about the submission process in How to submit to your label

Viewing your submission history

For each recording in the History tab, you'll see detailed information about:

  • Submitter: Who submitted to the label (useful for collaborative projects)

  • Submission date: When the submission was sent

  • File version: Which specific version of the audio file was submitted

  • Submission status: Whether the submission was successfully delivered

This information helps you maintain a clear record of all communications with your label and ensures accountability throughout the review process.

Understanding the Changelog

When you select a submission, a Changelog appears on the right showing a comprehensive summary of what changed between submissions:

  • Added items: New metadata, contributors, or file versions

  • Removed items: Information that was deleted or replaced

  • Changed items: Modified metadata, updated contributor details, or revised information

This summary only compares your selected submission to the previous one, making it easy to understand exactly what was updated in each submission to your label.

Comparing submissions side-by-side

To perform detailed comparisons and view line-by-line changes:

  • Go to a Project

  • Click on the History tab

  • Select a submission

  • Click on [Review]

Using the two dropdowns, you can choose which submissions to compare side by side. This feature is particularly valuable when:

  • Your label requests specific changes and you want to verify what was modified

  • You need to track the evolution of your project over time

  • You want to understand the impact of feedback implementation

  • You're collaborating with multiple team members and need to review changes

Visual comparison system

Items in the side-by-side comparison appear with clear color coding:

  • Green/teal: New items added (new contributors, additional metadata, etc.)

  • Yellow: Changed items (updated contributor roles, modified metadata, revised information)

  • Red: Removed items (deleted contributors, removed metadata, etc.)

This visual system makes it easy to quickly identify changes and understand the evolution of your project throughout the submission process.

Benefits of submission tracking

The submission tracking system provides several key advantages:

  • Transparency: Complete visibility into what was sent and when

  • Version control: Clear understanding of which file versions were submitted

  • Collaboration: Easy tracking of changes when working with multiple contributors

  • Quality assurance: Ability to verify that all required information was included

  • Professional communication: Clear record of all interactions with your label

This comprehensive tracking ensures that both you and your label maintain a clear understanding of the project's evolution and submission history.
